The Health Services Administration Certificate Program is designed to prepare individuals who seek specialized education and certification in health services administration. The flexibility of the program offers baccalaureate degree graduates the opportunity to acquire expertise and specialization in line with their interest, needs and career applications in health services administration. The program embraces different backgrounds and interests and is appropriate for individuals who wish to gain further interdisciplinary education in health services administration. It is suited for graduates from

  • any undergraduate major particularly those in business administration, finance, health administration, nursing and other allied health professions;
  • Master's of Business Administration (M.B.A.) or other master's level degree programs in nursing and other allied health professions;
  • and physicians, dentists and other professional clinicians.

The program requires the completion of 18 credits of courses, 9 of which are required courses. Coursework for this certificate program is offered by distance learning (online).

Program Admission Requirements

  1. Submission of a FGCU Post-Baccalaureate Non-Degree Certificate Application to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
  2. Submission of a completed supplemental application for the Health Services Administration Certificate program to the Department of Health Sciences.
  3. Baccalaureate degree or higher from an institution that maintains accreditation by a U.S. Department of Education sanctioned accrediting body (https://www.ed.gov/laws-and-policy/higher-education-laws-and-policy/college-accreditation) or equivalent foreign institution, as documented by official transcripts.
  4. International graduate applicants are required to submit a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based test) or 213 (computer-based test) or 79 (internet-based test), or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5.
  5. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 for the last 60 credits of the baccalaureate degree course work or a graduate degree from an institution that maintains accreditation by a U.S. Department of Education sanctioned accrediting body or equivalent foreign institution. 

Applicants may apply for either spring or fall admission.

Program Progression and Additional Graduation Requirements

  • Earn a minimum of 18 credits with minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale on all course work attempted at FGCU.
  • Earn a grade of C or above in all required courses. A grade of C- does not satisfy the requirement of a minimum grade of C. Only one grade of C is allowed.
