The Master of Science (M.S.) in Health Science program prepares graduates to serve as health care leaders in a variety of leadership and administrative roles within the diverse and dynamic health delivery system.  Graduates acquire skills and expertise in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating innovative and quality health care services.

Coursework for this degree program is offered by distance learning (online). 

Program Admission Requirements

Applications are reviewed by the program's admissions committee. The committee takes a holistic approach to reviewing applications and considers all application materials in the decision.

  • Submit an application through HAMPCAS (https://www.aupha.org/resourcecenter/studentshampcas).
  • Earned baccalaureate degree from an institution that maintains accreditation by a U.S. Department of Education sanctioned accrediting body (https://www.ed.gov/laws-and-policy/higher-education-laws-and-policy/college-accreditation) or equivalent foreign institution.
  • International students must demonstrate English language proficiency in accordance with University regulation.
  • A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 semester hours attempted in the undergraduate degree.  Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
  • Professional resume showing any healthcare, management, or relevant experience.  While specific experience is not required, work and/or volunteer experience is considered.
  • Submission of a personal statement of approximately 2 pages describing your professional goals and reasons for pursuing the MS in Health Science degree, any experience that you have that would prepare you for this program, and your career goals after completing the program.
  • Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in a virtual interview.  The interview is required for admission to the program.

Program Progression and Additional Graduation Requirements

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Earn a grade of C or better in each course. A grade of C minus (C-) is considered less than a C. Only one grade of C is allowed.
  • Refer to the Health Science Student Guidebook for further information on progression standards.
  • Submit an application for graduation by semester deadline listed in the FGCU Academic Calendar.
  • Earn a minimum of 45 credits with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Students must register for a minimum of one credit during the semester in which they apply for graduation.
  • Earn more than 50% of the credits toward the degree through FGCU.
