The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Educational Leadership program is for students seeking educational leadership opportunities in a variety of fields. Students with this degree typically work in higher education, P-12 education, community organizations, and in educational or training divisions in businesses, healthcare or public service. This program is composed of the program required courses (6 credits), concentration or focus area courses (15 credits), and restricted elective courses (12 credits) based on student's area of interest. Regardless of choice of electives, faculty advisors must approve all programs of study.

Program Admission Requirements
The department bases decisions for regular admissions on a holistic review of credentials in which the criteria listed below are used to assess the potential success of each applicant. Performance in courses taken in other graduate degrees and/or non-degree seeking post-baccalaureates will also be taken into consideration for admission.
- Submit a completed FGCU Graduate Admissions Application and satisfy all applicable university admissions requirements.
- Earned baccalaureate degree from an institution that maintains accreditation by a U.S. Department of Education sanctioned accrediting body (https://www.ed.gov/laws-and-policy/higher-education-laws-and-policy/college-accreditation) or equivalent foreign institution.
- One of the following:
	- A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale in the last 60 semester hours attempted that were accrued to the undergraduate degree
- A graduate degree from a regionally accredited institution
 
- Submission of
	- Two letters of recommendations from working professionals in the field and/or a current or previous supervisor and/or an academic advisor indicating they have performed at least at a satisfactory level in that position.
- A letter of intent from the applicants that spells out their reasons for wanting to enter the program and a list of a perceived set of skills and dispositions.
 
- International students must demonstrate English language proficiency in accordance with University regulation.
Program Progression and Additional Graduation Requirements
- Students must satisfactorily complete the minimum number of credits specified by the graduate degree program.
- All elective courses require approval of the program advisor.
- A grade of B or higher must be earned in all College of Education graduate courses.
- Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all coursework in program.
- Final program completion is assessed through portfolio assessment.
- The College of Education limits the transfer of coursework into its graduate programs to a maximum of three courses or 12 credits. To be considered, courses must have been completed with a minimum grade of B and no more than seven years prior to the date of entry into the graduate program and no more than ten years prior to graduation from the graduate program.
- Submit an application for graduation by the semester deadline listed in the FGCU Academic Calendar.
- Students must register for a minimum of one credit during the semester in which they apply for graduation.
- Earn more than 50% of the credits toward the degree through FGCU.
