In this course, students will explore dramatic structure, techniques, and various organizational elements. The course provides an introduction to theatre as a collaborative art form through the critical analysis of its historical context, production, theory, and connections to theatrical literature, including the Western cannon.

THE 3073 - Film Study for Thtr Students (3 Credits )
This class is for actors, directors, and writers who wish to study the work of master filmmakers to benefit from their demonstrated techniques. We will explore the various effects of cinema on performance basics such as body movement, facial expression, categories of gesture, dynamics of speech, visual composition and cinema storytelling.
THE 3303 - Script Analysis (3 Credits )
An introduction to the examination and analysis of play scripts as preparation for production. Students will read plays from various periods and genres, and analyze such dramatic elements as plot, theme, character, dialogue, and style.
THE 3540 - Applied Theatre (3 Credits )
In this field of study and practice, theatrical techniques are applied within non-traditional settings such as educational initiatives, community-based performance, documentary theatre, political activism, and social services. The course includes a service-learning component.

This interdisciplinary course links theories of theatrical space to contemporary issues associated with ecology, sustainability, and the environment. The guiding question for this class is "How do theatre artists interact with their environment?"

THE 4959 - Sr. Cap. Thtr as a Profession (3 Credits )
Preparation for a career as a theatre professional. Students prepare a professional portfolio showcasing career readiness. The capstone will comprise of interview/audition techniques, career planning, business protocol and marketing, networking and promotional strategies.
