SLS 1101  -  The University Transition  (1-3 Credits )  
An examination of the academic culture of the university and exploration of what it means to be in college, through a focus on a variety of topics related to personal success, including the transition to college life, goal setting, decision-making, study skills, time management, using campus resources, and choosing/evaluating a major/career.
SLS 1203  -  Finding a Major That Fits  (1 Credits )  
Students will learn a systematic approach to selecting a major that focuses on: understanding the elements of an appropriate major decision, the relationship between a major and a career, and how to prepare for the world of work while in college.
SLS 1251  -  Social Skills  (2 Credits )  
Course is designed to assist students in developing conversation skills, resolving interpersonal conflict and enhancing interpersonal effectiveness in a variety of settings.
SLS 1301  -  Career Planning  (1 Credits )  
An overview of career development theories and decision-making skills needed for career/life planning. Covers self-assessment, occupation/industry research, major choice, career goal development and action plans. Includes evaluation of their interests, values, skills, and personal strengths in relation to the world of work.
SLS 1304  -  Career Exploration  (2 Credits )  
Structured for self-directed and individualized career exploration. Includes systematic review of career development and exploration with the use of assessment materials and computer-based career development programs such as YES, Self-Directed Searches and preferential inventories. Includes the information of an individual work portfolio.
SLS 1305  -  Professional Career Developmen  (2 Credits )  
Students develop a personal profile of skills, interests and values in the process of clarifying career goals. The course activities include exploring occupational options and responsibilities, developing a career path and making career-based decisions.
SLS 1320  -  ExplorLearningfromExperience  (2 Credits )  
This is a project-based/experiential learning course providing students with guidance in developing their career journey map and components of dynamic career goal, career action plan, and personal mission statement supported through an e-portfolio
SLS 1350  -  Employability Skills  (2 Credits )  
Students learn to identify methods to locate, apply for, and keep a job.
SLS 1410  -  First Year Seminar  (1-3 Credits )  
This course is designed to introduce FTIC students to Florida Gulf Coast University, and help them feel comfortable with the experience of being college students.
SLS 1501  -  Effective Learning  (1-3 Credits )  
Development of strategies for success in higher education. Course includes assessment of individual learning styles and practical application to time management; effective note-taking; study and testing habits; and use of information resources.
SLS 1570  -  Learning with Technology  (2 Credits )  
An introductory course on today’s technology basics to include cellphones, tablets and other types of common technology tools to help students become more skilled in their use in college and on the job. Students also learn skills and techniques in using productivity tools and applications.
SLS 1571  -  Learning with Technology 2  (2 Credits )  
Students continue to develop technology skills that support their academic, social and employment activities. The central focus of the course is to develop skills using mobile technology, including cell phones and tablets, especially on the job.
Prerequisite(s): SLS 1570 (may be taken concurrently)  
SLS 1603  -  Getting Around the Community  (2 Credits )  
This course serves as a guide for students to be able to independently access the community through forms of public transportation as well as to review pedestrian and bike safety rules.
SLS 2302  -  Career Success Strategies  (1-2 Credits )  
Covers career success strategies. Clarify goals, develop a plan, obtain experience, create professional materials, network, manage your online presence, uncover opportunities, interview well, and develop career management skills.
SLS 2930  -  Career Seminar  (2 Credits )  
Seminar focused on integrating work experiences with previous coursework. Designed to assist students in transitioning from final internship to careers after college.
SLS 2940  -  Career Internship  (2-4 Credits )  
An in-depth supervised field experience. The student will spend an average of 10 hours per week over a 15 week semester in a job of their interest.
