Capstone course taken concurrently with the final internship. Trends and issues within the field of secondary education are examined from the perspective of the final internship experience.

Provides a supervised final internship where candidates refine and demonstrate effective instructional and classroom management practices. Emphasizes full participation in the teacher role in school or agency-based placements.

Provides a supervised field experience in a science education setting where candidates observe instruction and begin to demonstrate effective teaching practices. Emphasizes the gradual assumption of instructional responsibilities in school-based placements.

Special topics which can be repeated when topics are not duplicated.

Techniques and materials of instruction for teaching science in middle school and senior high school, addressing strategies for teaching adolescents, curriculum adaptation for special needs students, adaptations for LEP learners, and current literature for teaching science. Special emphasis on state and national standards.

Students investigate the implications of current theory, research, and issues related to a topic of their choice in the field of science education and communicate their findings through appropriate web-based media.
