The course is a basic introduction to psychoactive drugs and their effects on behavior and consciousness. Legal and legally restricted drugs with both medicinal and recreational uses are discussed in terms of their impacts on the individual user and society.

An interdisciplinary survey of the neural basis of cognitive functions and processes, including perception, attention, memory, and language. Exploration of scientific methods used to study how the brain supports cognition and behavior.
