MUL 2010 - Music Appreciation (3 Credits )
In this course, students will survey the history of classical music from Antiquity to the modern period, focusing on Western music. The curriculum may also integrate a variety of popular and global styles where appropriate.

MUL 4481 - Piano Literature I (3 Credits )
Study of keyboard and piano literature of the Baroque and Classical periods. Forms, genres, style and primary composers as well as the history of the piano included. Approached from both analytical and performance perspectives.
MUL 4485 - Piano Literature II (3 Credits )
Continuation of MVK 4410, Piano Literature I. Study of piano literature from the Romantic, Impressionistic, 20th Century and contemporary period. Forms, genres, style and primary composers are included as well as developments in the history of the piano.
MUL 4550 - Instrumental Literature (3 Credits )
This course is a survey of instrumental literature, focusing on chamber ensemble literature, particularly trio, quartet, quintet, and ensemble literature in the Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary eras for brass, woodwinds, strings, and percussion. Students will attend live selected concerts to accompany classroom learning.
MUL 4602 - Vocal Literature (2 Credits )
Introduction to art song literature from 1600-present. Study of composers, styles and related performance practice.
Prerequisite(s): MUH 3212 (may be taken concurrently)
