German Culture/Translation (GET)

An introduction to German culture and civilization. Students will become familiar with major developments in German history, literature, philosophy, art, music, and architecture. Texts and lectures in English. Knowledge of German is not required.

Study of significant German films (in English) and their place in the international cinematic culture.

This course introduces students to the environmental, social, and cultural dimensions of sustainability in German-speaking culture and society. Students investigate the historical roots of German environmental thought and explore how environmental policies, cultural practices, and everyday habits shape sustainable living in contemporary German-speaking societies.
