GER 1120C  -  Beginning German 1  (4 Credits )  
This is the first course in the first-year German sequence and introduces students to the German language. The topics included in the course are German grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. Through the application of the grammar and vocabulary, students are introduced to some of the cultures and peoples of German heritage, including figures from the Western canon. Not open to native or near-native speakers of German.

GER 1121C  -  Beginning German 2  (4 Credits )

GER 1952  -  German Study Abroad  (1-6 Credits )  
Key elements of German life: its artistic, intellectual, scientific, and spiritual contributions to the world via guest lecturers, readings, films, and other media in Germany.

GER 2210  -  Accelerated Interm. German  (4 Credits )  
The topics included in the course are German grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. Through the application of the grammar and vocabulary, students are introduced to some of the cultures and peoples of German heritage.

GER 3400  -  German Comp. & Conversation  (3 Credits )  
This course focuses on developing advanced writing skills in the German language. Various forms of writing will be practiced - essay, epistolary, opinion, creative, and analytic. Course taught in German. This course trains students in advanced spoken communication skills in the German language and on selected topics. Review of grammatical structures and introduction of more advanced vocabulary aid in developing these skills.

GER 3955  -  German Lang. & Cult. Abroad  (1-6 Credits )  
This course is a study abroad in a German speaking country that may incorporate the study of history, culture, literature, and language.

GER 4906  -  Independent Study in German  (1-3 Credits )  
Independent Study allows students to study literary and cultural topics of a special kind, depending on student interest and faculty expertise.
Prerequisite(s): GER 2221C  
GER 4930  -  Selected Topics in German  (3 Credits )  
This course explores selected topics and issues pertaining to German and Germanic cultures and civilizations, including topics in literature, art, history, philosophy, film, and current events. Students will refine their language skills to a level similar to the B2 level of the Common European Framework for Languages. Conducted in German.
