FRE 1120C - Beginning French 1 (4 Credits )
This is the first course in the first-year French sequence and introduces students to the French language. The topics included in the course are French grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. Through the application of the grammar and vocabulary, students are introduced to some of the cultures and peoples of French heritage, including figures from the Western canon. Not open to native or near-native speakers of French.

FRE 1133C - Accelerated French (6 Credits )
By combining the curriculum of Beginning French 1 and Beginning French 2, Accelerated French is a task-content based FRE learning course that emphasizes practical reading, writing, listening and speaking skills while exploring the rich cultural mosaic of the French-speaking world. Previous knowledge is helpful but not necessary.

FRE 1952 - French Study Abroad (1-6 Credits )
ELEMENTARY-LEVEL FRENCH TAUGHT IN FRANCE. Can count for credit in lieu of FRE 1121. It may incorporate language, culture, literature, and film of the francophone and French-speaking world.
FRE 2220C - Intermediate French 1 (4 Credits )

A fundamental composition course for students who have completed intermediate French.

FRE 3410 - Adv French Oral Expression (3 Credits )
A continuation of French Conversation. This course is designed for students who have completed Intermediate French Conversation and Communication.

FRE 3430 - French for the Professions (3 Credits )
This course provides students with the specialized language and communicative skills employed in professional contexts in different fields, such as Business, International Relations, Tourism-Hospitality-Catering and Healthcare). The language of instruction is French.

FRE 3502 - French & Francophone Cultures (3 Credits )
This course examines issues pertaining to French and Francophone cultures, including the study of civilization, literature, art, music and film from the French-speaking world. The language of instruction is French.

FRE 3530 - France and its Food Culture (3 Credits )
This culture course teaches students about France’s iconic dishes, their culinary origins, evolution, and traditions, while developing their French language skills through interpersonal, presentational, and interpretive modes. of communication. This content-based course is taught entirely in French. Students will make connections with the course content through experiential learning.

FRE 3955 - Study Abroad Cult. & Lang. (1-6 Credits )
This course is a study abroad in a French speaking country that may incorporate the study of history, culture, literature, and language.

FRE 4912 - Independent Study in French (3 Credits )
Independent Study allows students to study literary and cultural topics of a special kind, depending on student interest and faculty expertise.

FRE 4930 - Selected Topics in French (3 Credits )
This course examines topics and issues pertaining to French and Francophone cultures and civilizations. The readings and films used in this course will be in French so that students develop a better understanding of the intrinsic relationship between language and culture.
