Provides a supervised teaching internship and accompanying seminars to support the development and demonstration of effective instructional and classroom management practices. Focuses on applying professional standards in a clinical education setting.

This course focuses on best practices to improve teaching and learning in the K-12 classroom. Candidates will participate in lesson studies, analysis of student work samples, and critiques of their own video-taped teaching.

Focuses on strategies school leaders use to build professional capacity through clear communication, trust, and collaboration. Emphasizes the use of actionable feedback and standards-aligned observation tools to strengthen instructional practice and support professional accountability.
EDG 6627 - Found. of Curriculum & Instr. (3 Credits )
Introductory course in curriculum and instruction. Emphasizes designing and implementing a vision for instructional frameworks that align curriculum and state standards. Foundations, theory, and trends of curriculum from early childhood through secondary levels are included.

Literacies, as defined at different points in history, including visual, print, non-print, numerical, technological, environmental, and cultural are examined to determine 21st century impact on curriculum of being literate.

Focuses on quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research skills to investigate complex research questions in education and on how to develop a research proposal.

Emphasis on cultural diversity in education and comparative international education. Seminar format with an on-site experiential component. Conceptual, theoretical, and sociological foundations of education provided by examining theories and empirical research pertaining to diversity.
EDG 7925 - 1st Year Doctoral Colloquium (3 Credits )
COE graduate faculty members and other knowledgeable speakers introduce current empirical literature and other scholarly materials and facilitate discussions with doctoral students to nurture critical thinking and scholarly inquiry on a variety of pressing K-20 education issues.

Advanced study of current topics and issues related to teaching, learning, and curriculum, across a variety of classroom settings. Students locate, analyze and discuss current research.
EDG 7940 - Internship in Curr and Instr (3 Credits )
Students participate in experiences that bridge the gap between theoretical studies and application. Internship sites and field supervisors are selected and approved with the student's advisory committee to meet the educational and career goals of the student.
