Introduces educational leadership through a focus on professional ethics, student achievement, and data-informed decision-making. Emphasizes leadership practices that support a safe, orderly, and academically focused school environment through effective monitoring and improvement of instructional systems.
EDA 6192  -  Organizational Development  (3 Credits )  
Examines leadership and change theories that support effective school improvement planning. Emphasizes the development of communication systems that promote collaboration with faculty, staff, families, and stakeholders using appropriate technologies. Supports preparation for building professional relationships and managing organizational change.
EDA 6232  -  School Law  (3 Credits )  
Basic essentials of School Law. A review of court decisions affecting American education with emphasis on Florida state statutes. Candidates will understand professional and ethical behaviors in a school setting.
EDA 6242  -  School Budgets&Fin Reporting  (3 Credits )  
Focuses on managing the learning environment with financial reporting and budgeting (building level) supported by local, state, federal sources, emphasizes Florida regulations. Examines how to maximize resources to promote a safe and effective learning environment.
EDA 6910  -  Directed Research  (1-9 Credits )  
Supervised research.
EDA 6942  -  Field Experience Workshop  (1-3 Credits )  
Provides additional time and support for educational leadership candidates to complete required field experience or course-related applied activities not finalized during regular coursework.

EDA 6945  -  Internship - Educ Leadership  (3 Credits )  
Field experiences in school systems for identifying and analyzing educational problems and their solutions. Restricted to admitted students who have successfully completed at least 30 semester hours of their coursework. Permission of faculty in Educational Leadership required.

EDA 6946  -  Internship II- Educ Leadership  (3 Credits )  
Second of two field experiences in school systems for identifying and analyzing educational problems and their solutions. Restricted to admitted students who have successfully completed at least 30 semester hours of their coursework and EDA 6945.

EDA 6948  -  Final Leadership Seminar  (3 Credits )  
Serves as the culminating experience for educational leadership candidates, focusing on professional reflection, portfolio defense, and completion of required field experiences. Prepares candidates to demonstrate readiness for school leadership roles and supports preparation for the Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE).

Advanced graduate level course in organizational leadership focusing on the major leadership theories and concepts as applied to organizations; focus on concepts related to leadership, culture/climate, communications, changes, and ethics.

EDA 7110  -  UDL in Leadership  (3 Credits )  
This course explores the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework for implementation in a learning organization at the administrative level. Students will be provided with opportunities to develop and reflect on building successful, evidence-based systems of learning in a landscape of barriers.
EDA 7193  -  Instructional Leadership  (3 Credits )  
Examination of the research literature concerning effective teaching and instructional improvement strategies, including use of technology, appropriate for PreK-12, postsecondary, and other educational settings. Students apply models of instructional leadership, including formative and summative evaluation.
EDA 7197  -  Current Issues Educ & Ldshp  (3 Credits )  
Addresses major, global issues, and reform efforts in education. Emphasis is on issues that impact student achievement and other measures of accountability; particular emphasis is on the impact of technology.
EDA 7205  -  Applied Prog Evaluation  (3 Credits )  
THIS SEMINAR PREPARES STUDENTS TO CRITICALLY EVALUATE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS. STUDENTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF EVALUATION METHODOLOGY AND DESIGN BY COMPLETING META-EVALUATIONS, AND THEY PRESENT THEM FOR CRITICAL ANALYSES AND ASSESSMENT.
EDA 7235  -  Seminar in School Law  (3 Credits )  
Advanced graduate level course providing in-depth study of PK-12 American school law; focuses on selected school issues through detailed examinations of selected cases, statuses, and actions.
EDA 7247  -  Advanced Public School Finance  (3 Credits )  
Students will become familiar with the policies, principles, and practices associated with the federal, state, and local funding of public education.
EDA 7281  -  Education Policy Analysis  (3 Credits )  
Advanced graduate level course providing in-depth of analytical techniques and strategies to inform policymaking. Primary treatment is given to quantitative techniques and strategies. Students will be able to judge the merits of and develop education policy analysis briefs.
EDA 7355  -  Legal Foundations of Spec Ed  (3 Credits )  
This course focuses on the laws and practices that help educational leaders ensure that students with special needs receive an equitable and inclusive education. Emphasis is on perspectives of difference versus deviance, historical foundations of specialized programs, current social and legal contexts that influence programming, questions of social justice, and possibilities for the inclusion of all students. While this course addresses the needs of individuals with disabilities, there will be broader implications for providing educational opportunities for all students.
EDA 7359  -  Leadrshp Intrsctn Gen-Spec Ed  (3 Credits )  
This course addresses the practical and ethical dimensions of school leadership for students with disabilities. It is constructed on a framework for reflection and deliberation that enables general and special educational leaders to advocate for and implement educational programming that extends beyond compliance. Content will reflect recommendations for professional learning, including empirical research, problem-based learning, and collaboration among general and special educational leaders to generate and evaluate solutions to the educational, physical, emotional, social, and behavioral growth of students with disabilities.
EDA 7930  -  Special Topics in Ed Lead  (3 Credits )  
Advanced study of current topics and issues related to educational leadership, across a variety of organizational settings. Students locate, analyze and discuss current research.
EDA 7940  -  Internship in Leadership  (3 Credits )  
Students participate in experiences that bridge the gap between theoretical studies and application. Internship sites and field supervisors are selected and approved with the student's advisory committee to meet the educational and career goals of the student.
